The Membership Blast — 003

Reddit Ads for Selling Digital Products & Memberships

If you sell digital products or run a membership site, you probably know the struggle of finding the right audience. Most ad platforms including Google Ads and Meta Ads, are so complicated that they almost require a full-time expert just to make them work.

I recently started testing Reddit Ads, and two things immediately stood out:

  1. It’s ridiculously easy to use. Unlike other ad platforms, Reddit keeps things simple. No overwhelming dashboards, no endless campaign settings.
  2. You can target ultra-specific communities. This is the real game-changer.
Why Reddit Ads Work for Digital Products & Memberships

Reddit is built around subreddits which are super-niche communities focused on specific topics. Instead of running broad, untargeted ads, you can put it right in front of people already talking about what you sell. And with over 3.5 million subreddits covering just about every niche you can think of, you’ve got plenty of options. Here are a few highly targeted communities where you can reach the right audience for your digital products or memberships:

  • r/yoga – Discussions on yoga practice, philosophy, and techniques
  • r/Meditation – A community focused on mindfulness and meditation practices
  • r/BodyweightFitness – For those into bodyweight exercise, from basics to advanced movements
  • r/Parenting – General parenting advice and discussions
  • r/Mommit – A supportive community specifically for moms
  • r/BeyondTheBump – Focuses on parenting babies and toddlers
  • r/nutrition – Science-based discussions about nutrition and diet
  • r/EatCheapAndHealthy – Focuses on budget-friendly healthy eating
  • r/HealthyFood – Recipes and discussions on nutritious meals
  • r/dogs – General dog care, training, and advice
  • r/puppy101 – A great place for new puppy owners
  • r/dogtraining – Focuses on dog behavior and obedience training

Ad Types: Conversational vs. Feed Ads

Reddit offers Conversational Ads, which appear in discussion threads, and Feed Ads, which blend into the user’s scrolling experience.

The more ad size variations you upload, the better your reach will be across different devices and audience segments. Here’s a link to Reddit’s ad size specifications.

One Drawback: Conversion Tracking

One thing I noticed? Reddit’s conversion tracking seems off. The click and conversion numbers they report didn’t match my actual analytics.
Solution: Always use UTM tracking (which you should do for any ad platform). A UTM string is just a tracking code added to your ad’s link, helping you measure real results.

Should You Try Reddit Ads?

Reddit Ads aren’t for everyone, but if you sell memberships, courses, or digital downloads, they’re worth testing. Run a 30-day experiment, track results, and see if they work for you.

Important note: I’m not affiliated with Reddit Ads in any way—this is just my personal experience.

I put together a short video tutorial to help you setup and run your first Reddit Ad campaign.
