Highlights
A few takeaways from Jeremy’s success:
Starting and growing a thriving membership business doesn’t require a massive social following, large email list, or developer.
What you have to offer isn't the best fit for everyone. It’s okay to disappoint customers.
Listen to the reasons your customers cancel, and make adjustments as needed to best serve your ideal audience.

Interview
Jeremy shared his membership journey with us. Find out what he had to say in our Q&A.
Which digital product do you sell?
Community
What is the pain point you solve for your customers?
We help workers focus at home with guided sessions, workshops, and accountability groups.
What were you doing before your membership business?
Running live events.
What challenges did you have in the early stages of your business? How did you solve those challenges?
We don’t have any developers on our founding team, so we had to figure out how to connect third-party tools to create a valuable member experience. MemberSpace is where we started!
Were there any keys to success, or big "a-ha!" moments that really elevated the growth of your business?
We had to adapt our product to a changing world and also try to speak to pain points that were causing people to cancel. We ultimately made our offering more flexible for all kinds of people in all parts of the world.
Did you have a social media following or large email list before you started your membership?
No.
How do you market your membership and find new members?
Word of mouth, press, and eventually ads.
Which platform(s) do you advertise on?
Facebook and Instagram.
Have you done anything to focus on retention and reduce canceled members?
So many things! We’re constantly trying to move the needle here. One of our biggest pain points is that you can’t arrive to our sessions late. We just launched a drop-in lounge to give our members somewhere to go between live sessions.
What are some of your favorite online tools for running your business?
Brevo, Zapier, Notion, Usetiful.
Do you have a team helping with your membership business?
Yes, I have a team. We have three founders, a chief of staff, and 40 part-time instructors.
What's your source of inspiration?
Seth Godin, Oliver Burkeman, James Clear, Cal Newport, Gloria Mark
If you could give your younger self any advice, what would it be?
“It’s okay to disappoint customers.”
What's next for your business?
We just launched our first custom dashboard using MemberSpace’s awesome new sub-domain function. We’re launching a premium tier as well as adding new session types.
